The Maple Creek Flying Club was organized in the early 1960's and incorporated in 1968 following the first flying school sponsored by the Club. Through the years the Flying Club members have lobbied local, provincial and federal governments to provide funding for capital improvements as well as daily maintenance in an effort to provide a quality airport facility for the community.
Through the efforts of community-minded Flying Club members through the years, the airport facility has been improved from its original grass strip to a 3000' paved, lighted strip with fuel service available on a courtesy call-out basis.
Available Services
The facility is located adjacent, south, and is within walking distance of hotels, motels, eating establishments and recreation facilities. A 9-hole, grass greens golf course, swimming pool, curling rink, and ball diamonds are all located at the east end of the air strip. The livestock auction market, where many thousands of head of livestock change hands each year is on final, runway 23.
The Flying club also maintains a terminal facility that house bathrooms and telephones service for use by the flying public. Flying Club members make every effort to fulfill requests for services by vistors, whether they are business flyers or recreation flyers. Pilots are often afforded the courtesy of the Club's lounge with full kitchen facilities while their passengers do business in Maple Creek and district.
