Agriculture is and always has been pertinent to life in Maple Creek. In fact, Maple Creek is known to many as "The Old Cowtown" and lives up to this name.
Residents of the area rely on agriculture as the main source of income through ranching, farming and providing supplies and services.
At least 5 rodeos are held annually as well as numerous horse sales and weekly cattle auctions. The Cowboy Poetry Gathering is held every September and Stock Dog Trials also entertain us in the fall. Many residents of the area also enjoy being members of local 4-H clubs and roping clubs in the area.
In 1999, Maple Creek welcomed the building of a new grain terminal and the area continues to strengthen its agricultural roots.
